POLISHED & NATURAL CONCRETE
Rather than covering the slab, these finishes work with the concrete already there. Polished concrete is mechanically refined and densified to create a smoother sheen, while natural concrete is cleaned or lightly ground, then left in its original tone or enhanced with stain and sealer. In either finish, natural variation becomes part of the design.
OUR PROCESS
On-Site Assessment
We evaluate the slab, existing coatings, moisture conditions and overall space to determine which finish is best suited to the concrete.
Finish Selection
We establish the desired aggregate exposure, sheen and color treatment, accounting for the natural variation already present within the slab.
Surface Preparation + Repair
Existing coatings and contaminants are removed as needed, and cracks or surface damage are addressed. Because the concrete remains visible, repairs and natural imperfections may become part of the finished character.
Polished Concrete Process
The slab is progressively ground and honed with diamond tooling before a densifier is applied to strengthen the surface. Polishing continues to the selected sheen, followed by a stain protector and final burnishing.
Natural or Stained Concrete Process
The surface is cleaned or lightly mechanically refined based on the desired appearance. It may remain natural or receive a translucent color treatment that enhances rather than conceals its existing variation.
Protective Sealer
A compatible penetrating or topical sealer is selected according to the finish, environment and level of traffic, with traction incorporated where appropriate.
